Project Development Steps

Land & MountainStep 1 – Site Identification & Appraisal

We screen sites based on available wind resource (>7.5m/s average wind speed), proximity to grid, planning constraints (areas of conservation or visual amenity), proximity to dwellings ( generally > 300m from nearest occupied dwelling) and other constraints.

OptioningStep 2 – Site Optioning

The next step is to meet the landowner and work together to finalise the site option and lease agreements.

PlanningStep 3 – Planning & Grid Application

We begin the site permitting process by meeting with the local planning authority to discuss the development plans. Following this we prepare the planning application which once submitted can take from 3 months to 6 months to gain approval depending on the level of information required. When planning is received, we apply for a grid connection to connect the project to the electricity network.

ConstructionStep 4 – Pre-construction & Construction

Once a grid connection date is available, work can commence to prepare for construction. This will include arranging the various contracts including turbine supply and installation contracts as well as arranging a supply agreement with a electricity supply company. Project construction typically takes between 2 and 6 months depending on the size of the project.
